Temptation to Tell more than Listen …

Blog Archives:

This blog was written by Walking Together Learning Leader Robert Koole who is serving future leaders in education in Rwanda as part of The Abundant Leadership conference.

After three days of dialogue and debate, participants are well into listening to each other’s passionately-held views about the role the Bible plays in shaping teaching and learning.

Questions such as the following led to deep conversations:
-How can the knowledge of Christian worldview can shape our leadership?
-What approaches to teacher training are there in relation to Christian worldview and values?
-How could a transformative learning mentality be a reality in education?
-How do we go about confronting world realities with Biblical worldview and values?

The participants who represent Christian schools and educational organizations in Rwanda and Uganda are deeply committed to bringing the Gospel’s light to their own roles as well as to the people they lead. While searching for answers for their own issues and questions, many discover that this leads to questioning the answers currently offered. Raising difficult questions in a safe and secure setting allows leaders to consider new possibilities for their own situations. Our shared commitment to the Gospel provides a faith-full framework for both deepening our own understanding and valuing the contributions of others.

With just two days left, participants of the 2016-2017 cohort of Wellspring Foundation’s Abundant Leadership Institute still have time to debate some more before gathering their thoughts and pulling together the new ideas and practices gained.
