About this Project

As Diane Stronks and Elco Vandergrift prepared for week of learning with our brothers and sisters in Nicaragua, we were made aware of ACECEN's desire to not only learn more about effective school and organizational processes, but also to begin holding themselves accountable to the things they wish to implement through their learning. However, if accountability is our only end goal, then there is a danger that we only see progress through the eyes of accountability. So, what if we were to approach this to desire to learn and implement change through a growth mindset?

Leading with growth mindset "is the belief that your basic qualities are things you can cultivate through your efforts. Although people may differ in every which way—in their initial talents and aptitudes, interests, or temperaments—everyone can change and grow through application and experience” (Carol Dueck, 2006).

As workshop participants were presented with this as the foundation for week of learning, there seemed to be a collective sigh of relief. Organizational, Leadership, and School assessments as a way of growing... This was a wonderful way for us to enter into the learning themes of the week.
